The department of Clinical Education Development and Research (CEDAR) at the University of Exeter is one of the largest providers of training in evidence-based psychological therapies within the UK. We offer a range of postgraduate as well as continuing professional development (CPD) courses. You can find more about each of these in this section, or at the CEDAR website. If you’re not sure which course is best for you, take a look at our guide.
CYP IAPT and training for existing staff
The CYP IAPT programmes offer training in modalities including CBT, parenting, infant mental health and systemic family practice. Practitioners work with children from 0-18 as well as parents and families. They are available as Recruit to Train posts and we also have courses for Existing Staff.
Children's Wellbeing Practitioner
The CWP programme offers rigorous training for practitioners and supervisors in the CYP IAPT principles and low intensity evidence-based practice. This supports you to work with children and families with mild to moderate presentations of anxiety, depression, and behavioural problems in young children.
Education Mental Health Practitioner
The EMHP programme is designed to develop the clinical competencies and knowledge of trainees and supervisors in order to work with children and young people in educational settings. Practitioners learn about low intensity CBT clinical methods as well as whole school approaches to mental health.
