ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Following on from the successful Leadership CPD workshops we ran last year, we are pleased to announce we will be running two leadership development programmes in Autumn 2021-2 and Spring 2022. From the outset delegates will agree on individual learning objectives and module specific objectives with your service. Your service will be expected to provide mentoring support when needed. Delegates will also agree on a specific change project to work on and implement during the course of the Programme.
- Develop effective partnership working to ensure more joined-up services that make ‘integrated care’ a reality – not just empty words
- Inspire attendees to be more confident and competent to take on lead roles within the system whether at the neighbourhood, place or system levels
- Re-invigorate service delivery to give a fresh sense of purpose and belief that change for the good can really happen – particularly in light of the challenges presented by the pandemic
- Redress the tendency for investment to be skewed more towards services for adults and elderly
- Provide both a combination of development opportunities but also the foundation for a system-wide approach to talent management in each of the above areas
TAUGHT MODULE DATES: FACE TO FACE
Module 1: The System, Leadership and You | Tuesday 26th – Wednesday 27th April 2022 | 09:15 – 16:00
- Understanding the political context, the health and care ‘jigsaw’ and the direction of travel
- Understanding your own leadership styles and how you can work to your strengths (the basis of a personal development plan)
- Learning a range of practical tools and techniques for thinking strategically and managing and embedding change and transition
Module 2: Building Effective Partnerships | Thursday 26th – 27th Friday May 2022 | 09:15 – 16:00
- Reviewing the stakeholders who are critical to successful integration and assessing the health of those relationships
- Learning a range of practical tools and techniques to help build and maintain effective partnership working and a high-trust working environment
- Understand how to manage conflict effectively
- Examine what co-production with service users and communities can mean in practice
Module 3: Developing an Integration Culture | Tuesday 28th – Wednesday 29th June 2022 | 09:15 – 16:00
- Learning practical ways to assess what the culture of an organisation/system is and the levers that can be used to change it
- Work on what an integrated care culture would look like in practice and identify practical ways to progress this
- Examine the importance of innovation within the health and care system and what needs to happen to encourage and enable good ideas to be implemented
Celebration Day | Tuesday 19th July 2022 | 09:15 – 16:00
- A celebration of what the delegates have achieved through the programme and the impact they have had on developing integrated care at a local level
- A review of the programme to identify ways to improve further
- An opportunity to review personal development journeys and identify the next set of objectives beyond the life of the Programme

Oliver & Company (UK) Ltd has built a reputation for effective delivery of clients’ objectives by using Nancy Kline’s highly interactive ‘Thinking Environment’© methods which encourage participants to think effectively for themselves and develop a working environment based on trust and mutual respect. Often, we are so busy working in our professions and organisations, that we lose sight of whether we are being effective, fulfilling our potential, living ‘our purpose’. Below are some of the presenters who will be part of the programme:
Judy Oliver, BA (Hons), Barrister, FRSA, MRSM specialises in leadership development, strategic thinking, transition planning and facilitation of multi-agency and multi-professional partnerships and teams and community consultations. Her portfolio of work includes executive coaching and development for directors and people in organisations across all sectors but particularly local government and the NHS, from NHS England to front-line services.
In addition to providing bespoke development programmes for Boards and Executive Teams, she has successfully designed and delivered key strategic development programmes for clinical leaders in the NHS, including clinical leaders in Clinical Commissioning Groups, clinical directors and consultants in Hospitals and GP and specialist registrars. During the last two years, the portfolio of work has been heavily skewed towards mental health, primary care and integrated care systems. Increasingly, the team have been working with evolving GP federations, super-partnerships and Primary Care Networks and the way they need to function within the wider integrated care alliances and systems. In addition, they have been supporting the development of effective multi-professional and multi-agency team working i.e. general practice, together with social care, mental health, community and hospital services, to help ensure integrated care is a reality and makes a real difference to the health of local communities. The One Clinical Community Leadership Programme, designed and delivered by the team to support this type of work in Suffolk was recently shortlisted for an HSJ Award for best NHS Educational Programme.
Charlotte Cummings is Business Development Director at Oliver & Company (UK). Charlotte is a qualified facilitator and coach, specialising in service development, strategic thinking and managing transition for organisations and individuals. She is trained in supporting individuals and organisations using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and has wide experience of people and project management within fast-paced, commercial environments. Charlotte is an experienced, Prince2 Practitioner Project Manager, specialising in leading change projects in the private and public sector.Her current portfolio includes support to a range of NHS organisations including GP Practices, Mental Health Trusts, Community Services and NHS England. In addition to her support to the NHS, Charlotte supports University and Public sector organisations with leadership development including resilience, conflict management and managing through culture change.
Sally Kemp is a highly experienced facilitator and coach, specialising in applying her professional consultancy skills and in-depth knowledge of the health and care sector to individuals, teams and organisations to optimise their delivery.
She was previously the Chairman of NHS Berkshire, the commissioning organisation responsible for planning and overseeing health services in the area. She has held a portfolio of appointments that give her a broad perspective on care delivery and futures, including as Lay Member within a vanguard Integrated Care System, an Area Board Member for a large housing association, and charity trustee. She has personally undertaken research on collaboration in primary care as part of an MSc. in Coaching and Behavioural Change with Henley Business School, which was awarded with a prize for outstanding achievement.
Her current portfolio includes coaching, facilitation, team building and training for public and private sector clients, with a particular focus on the health and care sector.
